A great start to the 2017-18 Season with five wins from the six grades.
The First grade complied 176 after a poor start being 2 for 1. A good partnership between D Sharman and O Mouchemore to steady the ship and with some good contributions from the tail it at least gave us a target to defend. O Mouchemore 48 and J Kandiah 21 top scored. Gosnells batted slowly against some very tight bowling with a period of 4 wickets for 7 runs off eight overs in the middle of the innings. J Kandiah 3/29. M Ijaz 2/19 and I Fishman 2/20 bowled very.
Second grade was also in trouble early but a good innings from E Petta and A Bottega help get the total to 9/189. A Bottega 47 and E Petta 39 the pick of the batsman. The guys bowled tightly keeping Gosnells behind the run rate and when J Chislett was introduce into the attach it went down hill for Gosnells quickly, Jay taking 5/28 to destroy their chances.
Third grade also batted first and got away to a great start from Jack Kavanagh with 65 and then Mat French batting through the middle of the innings to be not out for 48 to help the team finish with a total of 9 for 158. Gosnells lost wickets consistently to be 9 for 48 before the final wicket fell with the score on 74, skipper J Noble took 3/14.
The fourth grade batted their overs out to finish with 200 on the board thanks to D Melbin 55 and J Kennedy 49. The boys then steadily collected the 10 wickets needed to have Gosnells all out for 82, S Singh bowled very well to finish with 5 for 9.
The U17's lost day one to the weather, on day 2 Gosnells batted first and declared at 7/136, unfortunately the boys couldn't quite get the runs but finished on 3 for 101 to draw. M Rossi took 2/10 and M Jorgensen took 2 /17 with the ball, M French made a very good 51 to follow up his 48 in 3rd grade the previous day.
The U15's had a great win after being in trouble on day one at 5 for 16 to go to finish with 6 for 118 with a great knock from J Littleton of 58no. On day two the boys bowled very well to knock Gosnells over for 97 to take the win. R Gerrand took 3 for 1 along with A McFarlane 2 for 15 and C Fawcett 2 for 20.
