JUNIOR TRIALS REGISTRATION GUIDE
Cricket season is in full swing, and the Mt Lawley District Cricket Club is gearing up for its junior trials. For aspiring young talents within the Mt Lawley district, the time has come to bring your skills to the next level with us and participate in the WA Premier Cricket competition, with an inclusive and community-oriented cricket club.
There are some important WA Cricket rules to note on age requirements, catchment zones, and key dates, so it's essential to stay informed to ensure a smooth registration process for the promising cricket stars of tomorrow. Please have a read through our junior trials guidelines below.
New WA Cricket Rules
In response to the latest WA Cricket requirements for trial dates and selection to playing squads for the 2024/25 season the Mt Lawley District Cricket Club (MLDCC) have made the following changes to Junior trials:
1. Trials Period
Trials will not be held prior to 1 February 2024.
2. Player Offers
Offers will not be made to any players until 1 March 2024.
3. Catchment
Mt Lawley district boundary map for MLDCC:
Players must come from within the Mt Lawley district boundary, or the immediate adjoining zones of:
Claremont
Subiaco / Floreat
Bayswater / Morley
Wanneroo
Scarborough
4. Zone Definition
The player’s zone is defined by where they reside, not which community club they play for.
5. Age Requirements
The age cut off will be assessed as follows for the 2023/24 season:
Development Squad and U13’s being under the age of 13 on 1 September 2024 (not 1 July 2024).
All other age groups remain as being assessed at 1 July 2024.
Trial Dates for MLDCC
Trials will be held at Breckler Park for NEW players only and registration is required:
U13s: 12th and 19th February, 4.30pm - 6:30pm
U14s: 13th and 20th February, 4.30pm - 6:30pm
U15s: 26th and 27th February, 4.30pm - 6:30pm
U17s: Trials will be by invitation only.
Players will be notified after the first trial session whether they have been unsuccessful or progressing to the second trials session.
Registration Close
Registrations for the trials will close on 31 January 2024 to enable club administration to prepare for the trials.
To make it convenient for parents and players, the club has implemented a streamlined online registration system. MLDCC requests all participating players complete all fields in the enclosed Google Forms link prior to the deadline to enable data collation / streamlining of trialists for each session being held.
Late registrations may not be accepted, so it's crucial to act promptly to secure your spot in the trials.
It may not be possible to assess players who present to trials without a valid prior registration due to limited pre-committed resources.
